Gaining Author Exposure To Maximize Sales

By Amelia Peck

Writers who want to make more money, will need to get more author exposure. Books will need to get in readers hands and the writer's name will also need to get out so that people will know who they are. Publishing companies will sometimes spend money to get the name of the writer more exposed, but in some cases it is simply up to the novelist themselves.

Bookstores and libraries will often have author signings. All you have to do is get your agent, publisher or even yourself to contact the manager for permission. They may give you a date and time that you can have for book signing. They will set you up with a table and some posters to advertise when you will be there.

The table may feature your newest book or some of your older ones. You can have a signing date to feature an older book that you have written. There are no time lines involved for having a special day about your work. Once one person buys a copy of your material, the word of your work will begin to travel from one reader to another.

Once one person buys your particular book, that story may get passed along to someone else. That is how people spread the word of a good book. That is why doing a book signing at a bookstore can be a helpful way to generate more business.

Many people rely on social networking sites for advertising their material. New and seasoned writers can set up a fan page and post relevant comments on it. Comments can include new title releases and sales that may be on titles.

If you want to generate more business and fan attraction, you could attempt to have a book contest. The winner may get a free copy, and the contest will have lots of people signing up and trying to win. The author exposure may lead to some new sales.
